Deploy ASP.NET Core to Custom VPS with DotDeployer

Any Ubuntu 24.04 server you already have — its IP address and a temporary root (or sudo) SSH login.

Connect Custom VPS in 3 steps

1

Give DotDeployer the server's IP address and a temporary root/sudo SSH login

2

DotDeployer installs its own SSH key on the server and the temporary login is discarded

3

Add your first site from a GitHub repo — DotDeployer bootstraps and deploys to the server you already pay for

What it costs

Nothing new — you already pay for this server. DotDeployer's fee is the only thing you add, and it is flat regardless of the server's size.

Runs PostgreSQL or SQL Server on the same server — see Databases — and DotDeployer itself is $12–$39/month, separate from what your server costs.

Frequently asked questions

Which providers count as "Custom VPS"?
Any of them — a server at a host we don't have a dedicated integration for yet, a colo box, or hardware under your desk. If it runs Ubuntu 24.04 and you have root, DotDeployer can bootstrap it.
Do I keep the temporary SSH login active?
No. DotDeployer installs its own key during setup and the password or key you gave it is not needed again — you can remove or rotate it right after.
Can I add a server DotDeployer already provisioned through another provider as Custom VPS instead?
You don't need to — servers provisioned through a provider integration are already managed the same way. Custom VPS exists for servers DotDeployer didn't create.
